Responding to suicide.
In the wake of the tragic suicides of a few local, young LGBTQIA+ people late last year, and in response to the distressing data relating to suicidality in the Writing Themselves In 4 report, we are going to use this session to discuss issues relating to suicide. We will discuss the importance of suicide safety training programs, and competency around talking about suicide with young people. We work in a small community and many people will have personal connections to this topic. How do we process our own responses whilst also supporting others? This will also be an opportunity to touch base and debrief with peers after the launch of the Writing Themselves In 4 report.
